dear mia

Dear Mia Grace,

I tell you every night "I love being your mommy" and you respond with "I love being your child".  You seem to be always thinking of others and making sure they are happy.  You give things up all the time for your siblings just to make them smile, or maybe it's just to get them to be quiet...but either way, you love with your whole heart.  You're the one that gives up your last chicken nugget or hurries to put your laundry away so you can go help your siblings with theirs.  God gave you such an incredible heart and we are in awe of your selfless 6-year old ways.

You're a little thing with a big heart and big emotions to go along with it.  When you get hurt, you scream your head off, whether it's an invisible injury, or a huge cut.  We have actually stopped responding so quickly when you begin to scream because we have learned you are usually fine.  If you get in trouble or upset about something that is unreasonable and won't stop crying, we will make you go to your room.  You come out in about 10 minutes with a smile on your face.  You just need a few minutes to get it all out and then you move on.

Sending you to kindergarten was one of the hardest things ever for me but you LOVE school.  You are so worried that we might be late and you will miss a minute of it.  Your teacher is incredible and loves you to pieces.  She has already called us to say how sweet you are and how much she loves you.  She says you are a "ray of sunshine" in class.  That's our Mimi.

You love Jesus, praying, and trying so hard to read your Bible.  You're getting so close.  You desperately want to be able to read on your own and I am sure you will be before we know it.  Your prayers are so precious and thoughtful and sound a lot like mine.  You just love life and your family and it shows.

You love to dance and sing and still put on "shows" for us.  They usually last quite awhile and we are all required to sit on the couch and pay very close attention.  You are the one that Tyson can count on to play ball with him and wrestle around.  You are a competitive little thing and recently had a plank contest with Daddy and Tyson that was supposed to be just for fun.  You stayed in plank position for much longer than a 6 year old little lady should be able to and it ended in tears.  It was quite comical for those of us watching, but you are so determined and do not like to lose anything.  You're fierce and I love that about you.

When you found out we signed you up for soccer, you wore Avery's old uniform around the house for days, checked a soccer book out at the library, carried around the ball, practiced in the basement with Tyson, and asked multiple times how much longer until it starts.  You are all in...with everything in your life and I love that so much.

You're inspiring Mia.  Your light shines so bright.  You live big and bold.  Which should really be the only way.

I love being your Momma so much and I am absolutely crazy about you.

Happy 6th Birthday, Mia Grace.

Momma
xoxo
